This strobist workshop is for all photographers who want to extend and expand the capabilities of their hot-shoe mount flash as well as to work more creatively with flash photography.

At our well-equiped studio you will learn different lighting setups, and understand different types of light shaping tools. Understand how you can use high speed sync and rear curtain sync to change the way you approach flash photography. Discover new ways to control your flashlight.

The workshop consists of both theory and hands-on practical. The instructor to participant ratio of this class is 1:10. Hence allowing our instructor to give more dedicated attention and guidance to you, allowing you to fully understand the technicality and operations to master your flash.

This high octane and highly interactive workshop will cover fundamentals of how to use your hot-shoe mount flash to produce results previously thought only possible with huge studios flashes. Discover new ways to control your flashlight and bring your flash.photography to another level!

 

Pre-requisites
Students are expected to have good knowledge of the following:

  • Functionalities of your personal DSLR camera
  • Photography theory (i.e. you know the difference between f/2 and f/22, why you would choose one over the other, and how to use camera in manual
  • Hot shoe mount flash with manual functions

 

Requirements

  • Any DSLR user
  • Students are expected to be punctual for lessons.
  • Students must be committed in attending the full course (i.e. after a student has registered, there will be no reschedule or make up lessons entertained due to the nature of the course arrangement)

  • Different methods for custom white balance calibration
  • Different types of lighting supports
  • Direct light shaping tools
  • In-Direct light shaping tools
  • Different light modifiers

  • Understand how to operate digital light meter
  • Balancing between ambiance and flash light
  • Demonstration of a low-key lighting setup
  • Demonstration of a hi-key lighting setup
  • Hands on shooting practice
Bonus: Learn how to use Canon ST-E2 with your flash*
